‘Health Foods’ That Are Really Junk Foods in Disguise

Unhealthy Fake Foods play a primary role in many people gaining weight and developing chronic health conditions, more now than ever before. Surprisingly, people consider some of these foods healthy.

Processed ‘low-fat’ and ‘fat-free’ foods

The “war” on saturated fat is one of the most misguided decisions in the history of nutrition. It was based on weak evidence, (well actually no evidence at all) and has now been completely debunked.

When all this Low Fat nonsense started, processed food manufacturers jumped on the bandwagon and started removing the fat from foods. But there’s a huge problem. Food doesn’t taste as good when the fat has been removed.

That’s why they added a ton of sugar to compensate.

Saturated fat is not only harmless its healthful, whereas sugar is incredibly harmful when consumed in excess. The words “low fat” or “fat free” on packaging usually means that it’s a highly processed product loaded with hidden sugars.

Shop-Bought Salad Dressings

Above-the ground- vegetables are incredibly healthy! The problem is that they often don’t taste as good as chocolate when they are “undressed” .

That’s why many people use dressings to add flavour to their salads, turning bland meals into delicious treats. But many salad dressings are actually loaded with unhealthy ingredients like sugar, vegetable (aka seed) oils, and trans fats, along with various artificial chemicals.

Although salads are good for you, eating them with a dressing laced with harmful ingredients more than negates any health benefit you get from the salad.

Remember to check the ingredients list before you use a salad dressing or make your own using healthy ingredients (It only takes a few minutes and its not only healthy- its way cheaper too!)

Fruit juices… are basically liquid sugar !!

A lot of people believe fruit juices are healthy, they must be because they come from fruit, right?

But most fruit juice you find in the shop isn’t really fruit juice… Sometimes they don’t have any actual fruit in them, just chemicals that taste like fruit. What you’re drinking is basically fruit-flavoured sugar water.

That being said, even if you’re drinking 100% quality fruit juice, it’s still by no means healthy.

Fruit juice is like fruit, except with most of the good stuff (like the fiber) taken out. Once the fibre is removed what remains? Concentrated sugar! Fruit juices such as so-called Innocent Smoothies actually contain more sugar than original Coke!

Vegan junk foods

Vegan diets are very popular these days, often due to ethical and environmental reasons.

Many people promote vegan diets for the purpose of improving health. But there are so many highly processed vegan foods on the market, often sold as convenient replacements for non-vegan foods. Vegan bacon is one example, and don’t even get me started on “Beyond Burgers”(Seriously the amount of toxic waste they contain is “Beyond Belief”.

Don’t be hood-winked by the healthful claims of Gregg’s Vegan Sausage Rolls and the like.. it’s vital to keep in mind that these are usually highly processed, factory made Fake Foods that are bad for absolutely everyone, including (of course) people who are vegan.

Most breakfast cereals

The way some breakfast cereals are marketed is deliberately deceiving. Many of them, including those that are marketed toward children, have various health claims listed on the box. This includes claims like “ healthy whole grain” or “low fat”.

This is especially true when you look at the ingredients list and see that these products mostly contains:

  • refined grains
  • sugar
  • artificial chemicals
  • seed (aka vegetable) oils

It’s important to always review product packaging to confirm what you’re actually putting in your body and whether it’s healthy for you. Ignore the front of the pack which is usually marketing hype, and examine the back where (in the tiniest of print) you’ll find the list of ingredients

Truly healthy foods are whole, single-ingredient foods. Their health benefits speak for themselves.

Real food doesn’t even need an ingredients list, because real food is the ingredient! If you are confused and bamboozled (like we used to be) drop us an email and all will be revealed!
