Nutella is more than 58% sugar

An image of its raw ingredients has shocked many fans of the spread. But is it really any worse than jam or marmalade?

While Nutella is undoubtedly delicious, many people think it’s healthy because it contains hazelnuts, and some even use it as a substitute for nut butters.

With the average sugar cube equalling about four grams each of sugar that means every jar has the equivalent of a whopping 57 (yes fifty-seven!) sugar cubes.

Even if you just have two tablespoons of Nutella it works out at 34 grams of sugar, equivalent to a massive eight-and-a-half sugar cubes.

Nutella is often advertised as a quick and simple way to make a tasty, kid-friendly breakfast.

Commercials highlight its “simple” and “quality” ingredients, such as hazelnuts and skim milk, but never mention the ingredients that make up the majority of the spread — sugar and fat.

While there is no question that Nutella tastes good, it should certainly not be considered a healthy ingredient, especially not for kids!
