Eating one egg a day will NOT increase your diabetes risk!

There have been various articles released in the last few weeks stating ‘Eating just ONE egg a day increases your risk of diabetes by 60 per cent’ which is patently absurd. (Unless they were eating a Cadbury’s cream egg everyday that is!) There is no way that eating eggs daily will have a negative impact on their health.

With their exceptionally high satiety index, eggs can make help you feel fuller for longer. One medium sized egg comes with approx. 6gms of high quality protein along with a variety of natural nutrients required by the body (and ZERO carbs!)

People who are diabetic or overweight rely on eggs in order keep their blood glucose and carb consumption low, without them, many people can feel limited.

Eggs have many nutrients, such as lutein and choline. Lutein protects you against disease, and choline is thought to improve brain health. Egg yolks contain biotin, which is important for healthy hair, skin, and nails, as well as insulin production.

Scrambled? Poached? Hard-boiled? However, you like your eggs prepared, try to eat plenty of these versatile wonders each week to take advantage of their protein and the lack of carbohydrates they contain. Remember, eggs are healthful and harmless, but how they are prepared and what they are served with can have a huge impact on how your blood sugars react. Adding bread and ketchup into the mix will make render your healthy meal unhealthy, but a four-egg omelet with spinach is but one example of a perfect breakfast, high in micronutrients and low in calories.

Plus, the healthier the hen, the healthier the egg! Aim for eggs from organic, pastured, or free-roaming hens for an increase in heart-healthy omega-3 fats.
